Our History

Evershine Preschool was founded by Paster Chester Ritchie and his wife Mrs Noelia Ritchie with the support of members of the Dangriga Baptist Church in 1999. On Monday, September 5th, 1999 the doors of Evershine Preschool opened its doors to a small group of children and staff members. The school served families and children from the various areas of Dangriga Town primarily those residing in Southern Foreshore, Rivas Estate, Harlem, Sabal’s Community, Unity  Zone and Back-a Town Areas. Students who are 2 years 9 months of age in September of the school year are granted entrance into the first year of the two year preschool program. While children who are at least 3 years 9 months are promoted or accepted into second year.

Evershine Preschool is a Christian preschool under the Baptist Association of Belize and is government aided. Christian principles are promoted and the salvation of students and their families are of paramount importance to teachers and management. Evershine offers families a unique and well-rounded educational experience that is not offered anywhere else in Dangriga Town. Teachers are trained and hold valid licenses to teach. The principal of Evershine Preschool is Lydia Chuc. The school teaches under the guidelines prescribed by the Ministry of Education and the Education Laws of Belize, using the Belize National Preschool Curriculum for 3 and 4 year old students at level 1 and level 2. In addition, the school employs a supplementary curriculum guide designed specifically for Evershine preschool to meet the goals and standards set by the Ministry of Education and to meet prescribed assessment goals at the culmination of the two year preschool experience.

Evershine Preschool functions under the highest of standards.  Our management and staff view the education of young children at the early childhood level as not only vital to the growth of our country, but, even more importantly– vital for the saving of souls and transformation of lives.

Our Services

Evershine Baptist Preschool (ESPS) management and staff provide a safe Christian learning environment for young children starting at age 2 years 9 month at the beginning of the school year in September. Students are enrolled in a two year program and are given opportunities for learning that help to develop their spiritual, social, community and environmental awareness while solidifying a strong academic foundation for the future. Children are classed according to their age and those that fall within the 3 year old bracket attend class in the afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for level 1 classes. Children who fall into the 4 year old bracket attend class in the morning from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Students are given daily academic and spiritual instruction by trained teachers and are given a healthy snack provided by school management each day. While ESPS promotes academics, it also incorporates and encourages play-learning, task-oriented work, group collaboration, the arts, and exploratory investigation of the natural and man-made world. Children are encouraged to be health conscious and exercise healthy practices that contribute to the improvement of themselves and the society at large.
Children are reminded that they are global citizens who have a responsibility to do their best to improve not only to their families and country, but the world at large. In every aspect of operation, the staff and management of Evershine work to emulate the school’s motto and create opportunities for students to shine—academically, socially and spiritually– while modelling exemplary practices that are tangible manifestations of the directive stated in Matthew 5:16.
